Cancellation policy

The short version

Reserving is free and needs no credit card. You can cancel a free reservation at any time, for any reason, at no cost.

If you made a Reservation Payment (10% of your rental rate), it is refunded in full when you cancel before your pick-up date.

Changes are free.

1. Free reservations

A reservation made without a Reservation Payment costs nothing. Cancel it at any time by replying to your confirmation email, messaging us on WhatsApp at +506 8807-8720, or writing to [email protected]. There is no cancellation fee, ever.

2. Reservations with a Reservation Payment

If you chose to lock your category with a Reservation Payment:

Cancel before your pick-up date and we refund 100% of the Reservation Payment. Your pick-up date is the calendar date of your scheduled pick-up, in Costa Rica time (UTC−6).

On or after your pick-up date, or if you do not show up for your rental (no-show), the Reservation Payment is not refunded, because the vehicle was held for you.

If we cannot deliver your reserved category or a higher one, we refund the Reservation Payment in full, whatever the date.

Refunds go back to the card you paid with, through Stripe. We issue them within 2 business days of your request; your bank usually shows the refund within 5–10 business days.

3. Changes

You can change dates, pick-up or drop-off locations, vehicle category or coverage at no cost before pick-up, subject to availability. The price of the changed reservation is calculated with the rates valid for the new dates. If you had made a Reservation Payment, it carries over to the changed reservation; if the new rental rate is lower, we refund the difference on request.

4. Cancellation by Green Alliance Travel Costa Rica or the Rental Partner

If, for reasons outside your control, neither the reserved category nor a higher one can be delivered for your dates, we will tell you as soon as we know, offer you an alternative, and — if you prefer — refund any amount you paid us in full.

5. After pick-up

Once you have picked up the vehicle, the rental is governed by the rental agreement you signed at the counter with the Rental Partner (or with our own fleet, for "Local fleet" rentals). Early returns, extensions and charges after pick-up follow that agreement, not this policy.

6. How to cancel or change

Reply to your confirmation email, message Green Alliance Travel Costa Rica on WhatsApp at +506 8807-8720, or email [email protected]. Please include your reservation reference (it starts with PTR-).
