Reservation Terms

1. Who we are and what we do

Green Alliance Travel Costa Rica is a Costa Rican car-rental broker. We do not own most of the vehicles we offer: we reserve them for you with licensed rental companies in Costa Rica ("Rental Partners"), we confirm your reservation, and we support you before, during and after your trip. For a small number of vehicles marked "Local fleet", the vehicle belongs to our own fleet, GAT Car Rental Costa Rica.

The rental agreement itself — the contract that governs the vehicle, the insurance, the security deposit and the daily use of the car — is signed at the counter between you and the Rental Partner (or with our own fleet, when you choose "Local fleet"). These Reservation Terms govern the reservation you make on book.green-alliancecr.com and the Reservation Payment described in section 5.

2. Making a reservation

Reserving is free. You choose your dates, pick-up and drop-off locations, vehicle category and coverage; you see the total price for your dates before you reserve; and you reserve without a credit card. When you reserve:

Your dates are held.

Your vehicle category is reserved. Vehicles are shown as a model "or similar": the Rental Partner delivers a vehicle of the reserved category, which may be a different make or model with equivalent size, seating and features.

A member of our team confirms your reservation with the Rental Partner, usually within a few hours and always within one business day, and sends you a confirmation by email.

If the reserved category is not available for your dates, we will offer you a vehicle of a higher category at no extra cost, or a full refund of any amount you have paid us. We will always tell you before your pick-up date.

3. Prices

The price shown before you reserve is the total for your dates and includes the rental rate for the reserved category, the coverage you selected, any extras you added, the one-way fee when it applies, and Costa Rica's 13% VAT (IVA). Prices are in US dollars.

The price you see at the moment you reserve is the price we honor. It will not increase before your trip, even if the Rental Partner's public rates change.

The following are not included and are paid at the counter, directly to the Rental Partner, if they apply to your rental: fuel; tolls and parking; traffic fines; a refundable security hold on a credit card (see section 6); optional coverage or extras you add at the counter; young-driver or additional fees not shown at the time of reservation; and charges for damage, cleaning or late return under the rental agreement.

4. Paying for your rental

Unless you choose to make a Reservation Payment (section 5), you pay nothing to Green Alliance Travel Costa Rica before your trip. The full amount shown at reservation is paid to the Rental Partner at pick-up, by credit or debit card as accepted by the Rental Partner.

5. Reservation Payment (optional)

After reserving, you may choose to make a Reservation Payment to lock your exact vehicle category. The Reservation Payment equals 10% of your rental rate (the base rate for your dates, before insurance, extras and taxes) and is charged in US dollars by Auto Mall 360 LLC (Florida), the US company that processes payments for Green Alliance Travel Costa Rica, through Stripe. Your card details are handled by Stripe; Green Alliance Travel Costa Rica never sees or stores them.

The Reservation Payment:

counts toward your total: the amount you pay at the counter is reduced by exactly the amount you paid us;

locks your reserved category: if the Rental Partner cannot deliver it, you receive a higher category at no extra cost;

is fully refundable until your pick-up date, as described in our Cancellation Policy;

is not a security deposit and does not replace the security hold required by the Rental Partner at the counter.

6. What you need at pick-up

Every driver must present a valid driver's license from their country of residence (held for at least 1 year(s)), a valid passport with the entry stamp for Costa Rica, and a credit card in the main driver's name for the refundable security hold required by the Rental Partner. Minimum driver age and young-driver conditions are set by the Rental Partner: drivers under 25 may pay a daily young-driver fee, which is shown at reservation when you tell us the driver's age. Debit cards, cash and digital wallets are accepted for the rental amount as the Rental Partner allows, but the security hold generally requires a credit card.

7. Coverage

Costa Rican law requires third-party liability coverage on every rental. At reservation you choose one of the coverage options shown, each with its daily price and its deductible. If you decline the collision damage waiver and rely on your credit card's rental coverage, you must present proof of that coverage at the counter, as required by the Rental Partner. Coverage terms, deductibles and exclusions are those of the rental agreement you sign at the counter.

8. Changes

You can change your dates, locations, category or coverage before pick-up by contacting us. Changes are free; the new price is calculated with the rates valid for the new dates and is subject to availability. Rentals of 31 days or more are quoted individually and are not booked online.

9. Your responsibilities

You confirm that the information you give us is accurate, that you are at least 18 years old, and that every driver meets the Rental Partner's requirements. You are responsible for the vehicle under the rental agreement from pick-up to drop-off.

10. Our responsibility

Green Alliance Travel Costa Rica is responsible for reserving your vehicle as described, honoring the price shown at reservation, and refunding the Reservation Payment under the Cancellation Policy. Because the rental itself is provided by the Rental Partner under its own agreement, Green Alliance Travel Costa Rica is not a party to that agreement and is not liable for the condition or performance of the vehicle, road incidents, or charges made by the Rental Partner under it, except where we have acted negligently or as required by law. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim related to a reservation is limited to the amounts you paid to Green Alliance Travel Costa Rica for that reservation.

11. Communications

By reserving you agree to receive emails and SMS messages about your reservation and your trip from Green Alliance Travel Costa Rica. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to any SMS to stop receiving messages, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your data.

12. Law and contact
